J.Tony Smith is an artist living in Salt Lake City, specializing in oil and acrylic paintings and his art car The Spooky Riot. Tony’s work is primarily focused on finding the beauty and awe in the dark and ordinary.
Tony’s childhood was spent in the Salt Lake Valley and Southern Utah and many long visits to the wilds of Wyoming and New Mexico. In his pre-teens he moved to the Bay Area and spent decades steeping in the history and beauty of San Francisco.
In 2015 Tony returned to his hometown and is thriving in the inspiration that SLC offers anyone willing to look and live deeply.
Tony’s central philosophy is Process over Product, focusing on how the joys of the journey will always surpass and increase the satisfaction of the destination, in art and in life.
